03/17/2005 - Spring Gray Whale Watch Tours

Kenai Fjords Tours, Alaska’s #1 Wildlife & Glacier Cruise, begins their annual gray whale watch cruises on March 19, 2005. Cruises will run daily, weather permitting, until May 6, 2005. The gray whale watch cruises depart Seward at 12:00 p.m. and return at 4:00 p.m. Transportation from Anchorage departs at 8:30 a.m. and from Seward at 4:30 p.m., returning to Anchorage at 7:30 pm.

Each year, 20,000 gray whales migrate over 5,000 miles from Baja, Mexico to Alaska’s Bering Sea. Kenai Fjords Tours’ custom sightseeing vessels offer large oversized windows and heated indoor seating, in addition to outside viewing decks that are perfect for photographing whales passing through Resurrection Bay. The experienced, knowledgeable captains and crew of Kenai Fjords Tours provide an educational narration about the natural phenomenon of the Gray Whale migration.

The spring season is an excellent time to view other species of wildlife as well. In addition to whales, Kenai Fjords Tours’ guests commonly see Dall porpoise, eagles, sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals, bears, mountain goats and orca whales. Sea birds seen while cruising in Kenai Fjords National Park include goldeneyes, mergansers, loons, grebes, kittiwakes and several species of gulls.

Join Kenai Fjords Tours and witness the unique gray whale migration. The rate for adults (12 and up) is $69, for children is $34.50 (2-11). All prices are subject to taxes and fees. A hot lunch and free parking is included with the price of tour.
