08/04/2005 - Third Annual Great Alaskan Rock Skipping Contest

Kenai Fjords Tours is pleased to announce the Third Annual Great Alaskan Rock Skipping Contest on Saturday, August 13 at 2:15 p.m. on their exclusive Fox Island property.

To qualify, people must correctly answer trivia questions about rock skipping, which are featured on KTVA Channel 11 and 100.5 The Fox during specified times. Twenty individuals will earn spots in the preliminary round held on Saturday, August 6 at Westchester Lagoon at 1 p.m. From there, ten talented finalists will go up against some of Alaska’s best rock skippers at the Third Annual Great Alaskan Rock Skipping Contest.

Finalists will receive a Kenai Fjords Tours cruise from Seward to Fox Island, where they’ll feast on a delicious Alaska salmon buffet before beginning the Third Annual Great Alaskan Rock Skipping Contest. The contestants are able to select a perfect skipping stone from the shores of Fox Island before the contest begins at 2:15 p.m.

The grand prize winner will win round trip tickets for two on Alaska Airlines and a three-day, two-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort. In addition, the winner will earn an overnight stay at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge on Fox Island for themselves and a guest.
